What do I do if my child is going to be absent from school?
If your child is absent from school, please call the attendance line at 610-579-4149. In addition to calling the attendance line, excuse notes and/or physician's notes must be submitted for all absences.
What if my child needs to get picked up from the office or needs to take a different bus home?
The transportation department requires that all requests for students to ride a different bus be made in writing. Please write a note stating the student's full name, teacher, requested bus number, stop and reason for change. Notes are to be submitted to the school office via your child's homeroom teacher, for approval, not given to bus drivers by parents or students.
May I send in a treat for my child's birthday?
Room 161 loves celebrating birthdays! Please feel free to send in a small birthday snack or treat for each child. We will celebrate your child's birthday by singing Happy Birthday and enjoying a birthday treat (optional). Please let me know if you are sending in a treat so that I can plan time for our brief celebration.
Will there be snack time in fifth grade?
Yes, you may send in a snack for your child. Our class usually enjoys our snacks after students return from Specials in the morning. Please send in a small snack that your child can eat in less than 15 minutes. Small water bottles may also be sent in to school. Please remind your child that water bottles should be stored in the cubby throughout the day.
What is the best way to contact you?
I believe open communication is important. Please feel free to contact me with any information, questions, or concerns. You may send in a note with your child, make a phone call (610-579-4219), or send me an email (chiodoc@garnetvalleyschools.com).
You can expect a response to your notes, phone calls, or emails within 24 hours.
Please call me and the office if you have important information regarding a change in dismissal that needs to be communicated during the school day. I cannot guarantee that I will see the email in time to communicate timely information with the office.
