Garnet
Staff Resources

It's new, improved, faster and prettier!

What can you do with Centricity 2?

Garnet Valley has upgraded their Schoolwires web editing software to Centricity 2 in April 2012.

It looks a little different, end users probably won't notice the small changes viewable on the web.

Improved Site Manager

A more efficient search box is available.

The Site Manager button will appear in all pages when you are logged in.
(Remember when you couldn't view the button unless you navigated to the site to which you have rights to?)

If you manage multiple web sections you no longer have to log in and out of each section.
(You will be able to see all sections that you have editing rights to on one Site Manager, such as your teacher section and your resource or sport section.)

Navigating to different areas will open in a window, actually more like a pop-up, allowing you to work on something without needing to back out of the location you are in.

Web page statistics now viewable in your Site Manager.

Right Click formatting options

Drag & Drop capabilities for organizing pages

Hierarchy Users
If you used Hierarchy before, the classic Hierarchy will be enabled.
You'll need to manually re-organize to use the new format, if desired.
No more Page Names differing from Link Text

Drag & Drop to organize your pages, sub-links & peer-links.

Content e-alert subscriptions view has changed.

How Do I? - a link to videos and tutorials within the Site Manager that relate to the area you are working on (so if you are in a Photo Gallery area and want more info, you can click on the help button and view videos specific to the Photo Gallery without needing to weed through videos about other topics.)

Expiration Dates - Gone!  (you can add display dates if you choose)

Calendars
Multiple Calendars - that's right more that one calendar in a section enables you to have one for each of your classes.
Post events to multiple calendars at one time
Create events that span over days
Better options for posting of events that re-occur
More categories for filtering & color coding- 6 personal ones available to each section.

Shorter URL's

"Overview Page will always be live" - that statement is no longer true, as a matter of fact you can select any page to be your home page/first page.

"Growls" - new term used to describe the success message editors will receive upon successful completion of a task, something simple like creating a page or renaming a page.

The Save reminder will no longer pop up every time you exit a page.
(This is great for those who found the reminder annoying, but if you forget to save... )

More page varieties available including comment boxes, thumbs up/thumbs down, ratings.  (Don't worry - moderator options are still there.)

Import & Export Surveys - not just the results but you can share surveys with other Schoolwires editors (by exporting & importing)
Calculator fields
Self-graded text export capabilities

Web sites used to rely on the theory that content is key.
The new generations want more, they want to interact,
Centricity 2 will all us to do that.
You can deliver messages to students,
parents, and community members
while at the same time
receive information from them.
