What Are
E-Alerts?

E-Alerts enable the district to send communication via registered user's e-mail addresses.
There are two different types of e-alerts available to web editors, content e-alerts and, the more common, broadcast e-alerts.

First lets talk about Roles, when a users registers, or creates an account on our website, they have the option to choose specific roles for their account.  These roles include each grade and school within our district, in addition to teaching, administrative, and support staff roles.  These roles also give the user rights to our website;  website editors can create pages within their websection and restrict these pages to particular roles.  Users can view pages that are restricted to particular roles that they are assigned.
If you feel you the appropriate roles are not correctly assigned to your account, please send an e-mail to have your account reviewed.  Note that the Support Staff role was created to enable staff to view restricted webpages.  Since the support staff role is districtwide, the distribution list cannot be distinguished between buildings...just in case you were wondering why you may have received an e-mail that doesn't seem to pertain to you.
Broadcast E-Alerts are managed by district and school Site Directors, they provide the Site Directors a distribution list to send e-mail/broadcast e-alerts to.  The roles that were assigned to a users account, by way of the website registration, will determine which broadcast e-alerts the user will recieve.

Content E-Alerts can be sent by any section editor, which would include teachers and anyone who manages a websection on our site.  In order to send a content e-alert, the section editor would need to have a subscription base for their websection.
Users with active accounts our website can subscribe to each websection by signing in, and clicking the 'Access My Info' link at the top right of the screen.  This will open a new window and display registration information; at the bottom of the screen is a button to "Edit Subscriptions".  Clicking on that link and by using the drop down menu, will give the user the option to select from all of Garnet Valley's websections.

Letter teachers may use, instructing parents to subscribe - print it or go green copy it and paste it into your webpage.

Section editors can send content e-alerts in their Site Manager, by clicking the "Create E-Alert" button to the right of the "Save" button.  A pop up will appear with a default message & link to your web page.  You have the ability to edit this message, when finished, click send and your subscribers will receive the content e-alert e-mail.
