Pennsylvania Department of Health, Division of Immunizations are in the process of approval to implement new immunization requirements for the 2010/2011 School year.
The following new requirements will be in effect:
ALL grades K-12 need the following:
- 4 doses of DPT (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis) DT, DtaP, or Td vaccine including on dose administered on or after the fourth birthday
- 3 doses of oral or injectable Polio vaccine
- 2 doses of Measles vaccine
- 2 doses of Mumps vaccine administered on or after the first birthday)
- 1 dose of Rubella vaccine
- 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine
- 2 doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or history of disease
Additional requirements for 7th grade:
- 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate (MCV)
- 1 dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) if 5 years have elapsed since the last tetanus containing vaccine
IMMUNIZATION VERIFICATION – Children will not be permitted to attend school without the following immunizations: The Pennsylvania Department of Health requires the following immunizations for students entering school for the first time beginning in the 1997-1998 school year.
- 4 doses of DPT (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), DT, DtaP, or Td vaccine including one dose administered on or after the fourth birthday
- 3 doses of oral or injectable Polio vaccine

2 doses of Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR)

1 dose of Mumps vaccine administered on or after the first birthday

1 dose of Rubella vaccine administered on or after the first birthday

3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine
Additionally, students entering school for the first time (Kindergarten or Grade 1) beginning in the 2002 –2003 school year must have:
- 1 dose of Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccine administered at 12 months or older or proof of chickenpox immunity by laboratory testing, or a written statement of history of the chickenpox disease from a parent, guardian or physician.
