QUICK FACTS: Our beautiful library welcomes approximately 850 students at least 2 times every week. Students will have time to hear a read-aloud and select independent reading materials during one visit and during their other library time, they will be learning information skills on a variety of topics. In addition to over 20,000 in-house items, our library also has 10 computers for student use in locating library materials or searching the Internet for curriculum-related or personal interest activities.
SCHEDULED LIBRARY VISITS:
During a "Book Selection" visit, your child will be in the library for a 30-minute period. He will listen to a librarian-selected read-aloud and then be permitted to sign out 2 books for personal reading. More materials may be signed out by students who need materials for a class assignment, such as a book report. Library books may be kept out for 1 week at a time. If your child wishes to keep a book longer, please have him bring it in to renew and we will extend the due date by another week. If your child misses a book exchange or is unable to find a book during the allotted time, remind him that ANY student is permitted to come into the library in the morning between 8:40 and 9:00 to return forgotten books and sign out fresh reading material.
During each of their weekly 30-minute "Library Classroom" visits, students will learn about information skills and related topics. Students do not directly receive a grade on their library activities, unless the activity occurs in conjunction with a classroom assignment.
