The health council is made up of a group of teachers, community members, administrtion, nurses and councelors that look at the 8 components of a healthy school.

What is the purpose of the health council?
Our mission statement:

"The purpose of Garnet Valley Middle School"s Health Council is to optimize student and staff wellness. While creating a healthy environment for learning, we will educate about proper nutrition, growth and development. We will advocate and provide resources while building a strong network within the school and within the community. GVMS cares about their students and staff, and recognizes the link between a healthy lifestyle and success in school."
What does the Health Council do?
Apple crunch day for students
Biggest Loser competition for staff
Met with our food service company, Chartwells, to enhance the food offered to students and faculty.
Walking club for staff after school.
Involvement of outside organizations; Reach 211, Cooper Bone and Joint and YMCA
Food tastings for students at lunch
Before/After school fitness program for students
