IF YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL,
PLEASE CALL THE ATTENDANCE LINE.
610-579-4149
In addition to calling the attendance line, excuse notes and/or physician’s notes must be submitted for all absences. Homework may be requested on the second day of absence by calling your child’s teacher by 10am.
Please note that all absences, including those that are excused by the building administrator, are counted as part of the 10-day limit. After a total of 10 school absences, all subsequent absences require a doctor's note or they will be considered unexcused and may result in truancy proceedings.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT“REQUESTS FOR ABSENCE”: Recent legislation entitled “No Child Left Behind” has caused changes in the way we review Requests for Absence. Because the law imposes sanctions on schools and districts if they fall below a 95% attendance rate, we have an obligation to monitor attendance more carefully than ever. This will result in fewer approvals of requests. Absences that are not approved will be counted as unexcused. Please be aware that any student that exceeds 10 days of any kind of absence will be required to have a doctor’s note for the absences in excess of 10 days.
TARDINESS
If your child is tardy the school requires a signed note explaining the tardiness. However, it is critical that students arrive to school on time in order not to miss valuable learning opportunities. Your child is late if he/she arrives after 8:55 AM. Children must stop by the school office so as not to be marked absent. Repeated lateness will accumulate to unexcused absences and are a distinct disruption to classroom routines. Therefore, parents should make every effort to prevent tardiness.
