Academic Pride
Garnet Valley Middle School educates approximately 1450 students from grades 6 through 8 under a developmental team-structured approach. The teaming philosophy creates smaller learning communities of students that work with a specific group of teachers. Both teachers and students benefit from being educated within the team structure.
The academic program at Garnet Valley is rich and strong. Students partake in a rigorous, yet nurturing environment with the full complement of academics, supported by an opportunity to gain exposure to the various elective areas. Sixth grade students are scheduled for two periods a day of Language Arts, and one period for Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Seventh and eighth grade students are scheduled for one period per day of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Students may elect to take a World Language in French or Spanish at the beginning of their seventh grade year, following the completion of the Exploratory World Language program in sixth grade. Enrichment Language Arts, and Mathematics are available to qualifying students in grades six, seven, and eight. Enrichment Science is available for qualifying students in grades seven and eight. Learning Support Services are available for students who qualify. The Learning Support programs include special education for students with IEPs.
