Students/parents have the option again this year to purchase accidental insurance on their child’s device. Accidental insurance covers drops, spills, cracked screens, or broken keyboards that result in the device being unusable and needing to be replaced. Accidental insurance DOES NOT cover intentional damage or abuse/neglect of the device. The cost of this optional laptop insurance is $45 per year.

Students are responsible for the general care of school-used technology. Devices that are broken or fail to work properly must be reported to the school office for an evaluation of the equipment by our district technology support personnel. Special care must be taken to protect the device screen, as any damage to the screen will result in the need to replace the entire device.

Starting in the 2022-2023 school year, all incoming 9th graders will receive a MacBook Air to use in school and at home. There is no fee for this device, however, students/parents have the option to purchase accidental insurance (see above). Accidental damage insurance covers both in-school and out-of-school use of the device.

The district has a legal and moral obligation to monitor students’ online content when in school and when using a district device at home. Consequently, the district uses several programs to ensure students are safe and using district-issued technology appropriately and responsibly.
