Dear Garnet Valley Community,
After a longer winter than any of us anticipated, we are excited to share that the Pennington Project is moving forward as we head into the spring. The weather delayed much—if not all—of the work on the fields, but we are now seeing that work pick up quickly.
At the main Pennington building, the exterior brickwork is nearly finished. Windows and glass features will be installed next, and work inside the building is continuing with flooring, cabinetry, and other finishing touches. Heating and cooling units are in place, and additional exterior elements will be added in the coming weeks.
The field house is also making great progress. The outside and structural work are complete, and crews are finishing the interior systems like heating, electricity, and plumbing. Sidewalks and stairs in the area have been installed, and fencing and exterior siding will be added soon.
Work on the storage building is about to ramp up, with the steel frame being installed first, followed by the roof and walls.
Around the site, important infrastructure work is ongoing. Fuel tanks will be installed shortly, and crews are continuing work on water and utility connections. We expect this portion of the project to be completed by the end of the month.
The athletic fields are now moving ahead after the weather delays. Turf installation has now begun on the baseball field. Work on the softball and multipurpose fields will follow. Scoreboards are already installed, and fencing will be completed as each field is finished. All major electrical and network work for the fields is already in place.
As a reminder, this remains an active construction site. While we understand there is a great deal of interest and curiosity about the progress, we ask that community members do not enter the site for safety reasons.
We are encouraged by the progress across the entire project and remain on track. As always, we appreciate your continued support and will keep you updated as work continues.
Sincerely,
Dr. Marc Bertrando, Superintendent
