Annoto
Annoto is an in-video collaboration solution that enables users to contribute, share and learn together, turning passive 1-way video viewing into an interactive group experience. Annoto gives teachers the ability to add time-based video annotations as an overlay to any video. This allows students and teachers to discuss and collaborate as they watch videos anytime and anyplace. Annoto enables a focused discussion regarding any moment in the video, as well as the ability to manage a personal journal (both for students and for teachers) throughout the course, to add interactions and to have a private chat with any of the class participants. 👉 To enable the Annoto window in Schoology, be sure to resize the video once it is added to your Schoology page.
As a teacher, you can choose the set of features you want for all course videos, as well as per a specific video. Annoto includes:
A collaborative space. The “Comments Space” enables quick, available & accessible communication between students and teachers (and among students). Teachers can initiate a discussion, add guiding questions and/or invite your students to ask questions on the video. Every comment gets a time-tag. Clicking on it will take users to the exact moment in the video it refers, hence keeping each comment with its context in the video.
A Private Discussion Space. The “People Space” enables private discussions between the teacher and each student (or a group of students), and enables teachers to see who is online in any given moment.
A Personal Space. The “Personal Notes” space is the user’s very own private place to reflect on the video and the students’ comments and questions, mark important moments and document thoughts that no one else will see. The personal notes can also be exported. Click here to learn how.
Interactions Space. The “Interactions Space” enables teachers to engage learners in additional ways, such as: quizzes, polls, surveys, etc.
Notification system. Enables teachers to stay on top of things by getting a notification email once a question receives an answer. This also allows teachers to follow new comments that were added in the video, or in all videos in the course. Click here to learn how.
Insights Dashboard. Sheds light upon the learning and activity (In the entire course, per video, and per user) and enables teachers to gain actionable insights on each students & the course content. In the dashboard, teachers can also manage the course discussions and set the Annoto features they prefer to use with their classes. Click here to learn more.
