🎉🐾 What a fantastic time at our Faculty vs. Student Bocce Games!
Laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of school spirit filled the air as students and staff faced off on the bocce courts. From impressive throws to enthusiastic cheers from the sidelines, it was a true celebration of community and connection.
Events like this remind us that some of the best moments happen when we come together, support one another, and simply have fun. Thank you to everyone who played, cheered, and helped make the day such a success!
Who do you think had the best bocce skills—students or faculty? 😉

🌿🐦 BSES Nature Trail Round-Up 2025 🐦🌿
A special thank you to BSES 4th Grade Teacher and multi-time World Series of Birding Champion, Mr. Brian “Mr. BQ” Quindlen, M.Ed., for preparing the 2025 BSES Nature Trail Round-Up, now featured on the GV Trailblazers blog.
This year’s recap highlights an incredible season of birding and outdoor learning along the paths and waterways of the BSES Nature Trail. Students engaged through Trailblazers After School Activities, Trailblazers Summer Camps, and hands-on field trips that brought science to life in our own backyard.
For more than a decade, Mr. BQ, Trailblazers Summer Camp Co-Sponsor Mr. Brian McLaughlin, dedicated BSES staff, Bethel community volunteers, and many others have supported eBird data collection on the Nature Trail. Thanks to their sustained efforts, more than 150 bird species have been observed and documented.
This is authentic, student-centered learning in action. We are grateful to everyone who continues to invest time and expertise into this unique outdoor experience for our students.

🪙❤️ BSES Coins for Kids Makes a Big Impact ❤️🪙
Tara Allen and Katie Klemens, Building Principal and Assistant Principal at Bethel Springs Elementary School, extend their sincere thanks to our incredible BSES families for coming together in support of a powerful cause.
Through the Coins for Kids fundraiser, our community raised an outstanding $10,605.66 for the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware.
These donations help provide a true home away from home for families whose children are receiving medical treatment. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference for families during some of their most challenging moments.
To celebrate this achievement, BSES students enjoyed a well-earned Movie & Pajama Day, and winning classes were treated to a McDonald’s lunch. A special thank you to everyone who contributed and helped with coin counting to make this event such a success.
We are proud of the compassion and leadership shown by our students and families.

🏆🐾 Congratulations to Jyothsana “Joey” Anandh for winning the Delaware County Regional Spelling Bee this past Saturday!
Joey’s dedication, preparation, and perseverance earned her the regional title, and we could not be more proud of this outstanding achievement.
She will now represent Garnet Valley at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. this May. What an incredible opportunity to compete on the national stage!
Join us in wishing Joey the very best as she prepares for Nationals. We are cheering you on every step of the way! 📚✨

We plan to open school on time tomorrow. Our snow teams, along with regional road crews, made significant progress today, and based on current conditions, we are in a good position for a normal opening.
There is, of course, no way to predict with certainty whether major icing could develop overnight. At this point, however, conditions and treatment efforts support opening on time. Should weather conditions shift in a way that meaningfully affects safety, we will reassess and communicate any updates as early as possible.
For student drivers, please use your best judgment. If you’re uncomfortable driving, riding the bus remains the safest way to get to school.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support, patience and understanding.

❄️ School Closure Notice – Monday, February 23 ❄️
All schools and district offices will be closed tomorrow, Monday, February 23, due to expected blizzard conditions.
We are choosing to close rather than move to a Flexible Instructional Day because power outages are possible. This could significantly disrupt online learning for many families.
We are making this decision early to give families and staff time to plan. It also allows our facilities and transportation teams the opportunity to prepare and coordinate the work needed to clear our campuses safely.
Our goal is to reopen on Tuesday if conditions allow. If that changes, we will communicate as early as possible once we have the information needed to make a responsible decision.
Thank you for your understanding. Please stay safe and take care.

Adolescence is a crucial time of transition and growth. We want to give our students tools that prepare them for life’s challenges. With anxiety increasing for many teens, it isn’t surprising that young people may gravitate toward behaviors that distract or numb uncomfortable feelings—such as social media, gaming, shopping, food, relationships, exercise, and increasingly potent and available substances.
This program will provide support and useful tools from experts who have dedicated their lives to understanding and treating teens and young adults.
We hope you’ll join us for this important conversation.

Due to anticipated winter weather conditions, all Garnet Valley School District schools and district offices will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 26, 2026.
The forecast remains consistent, with snow followed by freezing rain and sleet expected overnight and into the morning. Our facilities and maintenance teams are actively working to stay ahead of conditions, but travel is expected to be unsafe. Closing schools is the most responsible decision for our students, staff, and families.
At this time, we plan to operate on a normal schedule on Tuesday. An update will be shared tomorrow afternoon after we fully assess school campuses, main roads, back roads, and residential developments across the district.
Stay safe, and if conditions allow, we hope you are able to enjoy some time outside and a day of sledding with your kids.
